The FPGR-F50 filter base glass reactor combines reaction and cake filtration in a single 50 litre jacketed vessel, which removes the transfer step that costs yield in multi stage synthesis. A sintered PTFE support plate sits above the bottom outlet and carries a filter cloth or membrane; when the reaction is complete the agitator is stopped, vacuum is applied beneath the plate, and mother liquor is pulled through the cake while the crystals remain inside the reactor. Washing solvent is sprayed over the cake through a dedicated port and the washings are drawn off along the same path, so the solid is never exposed to air or moved between vessels.
Both the vessel body and the filter housing are formed from borosilicate 3.3 glass, giving full visibility of cake build up, channelling and wash breakthrough, an advantage that stainless Nutsche filters cannot offer. The agitator shaft passes through a mechanical seal at the cover and carries a PTFE paddle positioned a few millimetres above the filter plate; a short reverse rotation at low speed levels the cake before vacuum is applied. The jacket accepts either chilled glycol or hot oil, so crystallisation can be programmed from a hot clear solution down to a cooled slurry in the same vessel that will later filter it.

This configuration is chosen wherever an intermediate must be isolated as a solid: active pharmaceutical ingredient crystallisation, recrystallisation of dye intermediates, precipitation of catalyst residues, and the isolation of inorganic pigments after a hot digestion. Contract manufacturers use it for small scale process development where the ratio of wash liquor to cake must be established before transfer to a pressure Nutsche. Research groups working with air sensitive organometallic products appreciate the closed path from slurry to dried cake, and quality control laboratories use the transparent filter housing to validate washing endpoints visually as well as analytically.
Packaging & Quality AssuranceEvery filter base is bubble point tested before dispatch and issued with the measured permeability of its support plate. The glass components are packed in foam lined cartons and the complete assembly travels in a fumigated plywood case. Spare filter cloths, support plate gaskets and a calibration certificate for the vacuum gauge accompany the shipment. A twelve month warranty covers manufacturing defects, and transit breakage is replaced free of charge. Our engineers can supply the vessel to a validated cleaning procedure and assist with filter medium selection for a specific crystal habit.
